However, it is not merely an intermediary between sellers and potential buyers. Safer has the role of planning and rationalisation of properties.
It optimises the transmission of property (real value, legal security, compliance, accompanying the project...).
Because the French agricultural world is complex, reference to a professional in this field is essential!

Call for candidates and legal advertising


Before selling a property the Safer makes a call for candidates: it announces the sale in 2 newspapers and at the town hall for a 15 day period, as required by law.

Offering to buy  


Anyone can offer to buy and all applications are examined.

Any member of the European Community has access to the agricultural property market in France according to the same rules as people of French nationality (or any member of a State that has signed an agreement with France banning any restrictions on activity based on nationality).

Collection of applications


If you want to buy, you fill in an identification form and, above all, you describe your project. This is an important stage: it enables you to develop all your arguments and to set out your motives.

Yours is a serious project and will necessarily be accompanied by financial capacity. You may have to pay a sum of money that will be fully reimbursed to you if your project is not chosen or which will be transformed into a deposit if it is selected.

Study of the projects


All projects are studied within the context of local consultative commissions, (local commissions, see How is the buyer chosen?).
One or several projects are chosen.

Preparation of the deed of sale


Safer gets in contact with the notary to prepare the draft deed of sale and help him to collect together all the necessary documents.

Drafting of the deed of sale


The deed of sale may contain specific conditions,including specifications to be complied with to maintain the destination of the property for at least 10 years.
