Where to set up /Buy or rent? /Renting a farm in France
Setting up the tenancy

The amount of rent must be between a minimum and maximum amount set by Prefect’s decree.

This amount is up-dated every year according to the county rental index. It depends on the quality of land.
 
In addition to this rental cost, the owner can ask the farmer for reimbursementof:

- property tax (by amicable settlement, maximum ¼ or 1/3)

Chamber of Agriculture costs
 
The rent for a residential house must be separated from that of the land. It fluctuates according to the cost of the building index.

Good to know

An increase in price is possible during the course of the lease if the owner has carried out work that exceeds the legal investment obligations imposed on him by a public body (e.g. a land consolidation association).
