Land prices in 2006

There are three main zones:

  • The north: over 5000 €/ha

  • A central strip: less than 3000 €/ha

  • South of France: over 4000 €/ha

Development in land prices:

  • The price of free, non-built agricultural landincreased in France by around 65% between 1996 and 2004.
  • Agricultural income per hectare decreased considerably over this same period (-22% between 1995 and 2004).
  • The largest price increase for agricultural land is in the South of France.

Some of the reasons:

  • Urban pressure on rural areas,
  • Purchases by non-farmers of agricultural land at prices that are twice as high as those practised by farmers.

You will find:
  • The price of land and meadows, vines, forests, country houses, building plots per level (national, county and agricultural region)
    > heading: “Les ventes réalisées”
  • Tenancy prices per county: heading “Les fermages”
  • Price developments over the past 35 years and by type of property
