The CFE is an obligatory passage in any installation project. In 1996, in order to simplify the administrative process imposed upon companies the principle of a single desk was instituted, conferring upon county chambers of agriculture the management of Companies’ Formalities Centres.
What is its role?
The CFE allows farmers to make in one place and on the same document the declarations that are obligatory in setting up an agricultural activity.
The CFE creates a single file and sends it:
To INSEE which allocates a SIREN number (single identity n° for the tax authorities, INSEE can also allocate the SIRET n° that corresponds to the establishment). This number is for life.
To the MSA (affiliation, subscription to health insurance)
To the tax office (VAT n°)
For affiliation to the MSA
The 1st step must obligatorily be undertaken via the CFE (see above)
A manager in charge of MSA affiliation will get in contact with you after your file has been transmitted by the CFE and will come to your farm for affiliation and registration (subscription to AMEXA is obligatory in order to work as a farmer).
This means you!
Any farmer taking over or setting up a farm must make a declaration to the CFE.
When to get in contact with the CFE
One month at the earliest before your installation date, and at the latest one month after this date.
What is the procedure?
Get in contact with the CFE in the county where your farm is located, the CFE will supply you with all the necessary documents and information, will give you a document to complete and will tell you what papers are required.
