About herd

Sanitary monitoring of the herd:

Ensure that any animal you buy has been subjected to the obligatory health tests (information available from the DSV or the CDASS or from your Cooperative).

In general you should re-perform the obligatory health tests on the animal in the herd a certain time period after it comes to the farm.

Animal identification:

Ensure that animal identification is done properly. After your installation, plan to meet someone from the EDE (County Breeding Establishment) so that he can explain to you all the obligations regarding identification and details of animal movements.


Insurance cover

Ensure that the existing contract with the insurance company of the current owners will continue, whilst a new contract is being signed!

Is the transfer of herds from your country to France allowed?

With the European Economic Space, the animal’s certificate of anti-rabies vaccination is required and certificate of its good health drawn up by a vet less than 5 days before departure.

Dogs and cats must be tattooed and vaccinated. With animals or plant species that are protected by community regulations, a CITES (Convention on International Trade in Species Threatened with Extinction) permit is required along with purchase invoice and the certificate of sale.

Since February 2000, the six-month quarantine period, applicable for a century for taking dogs and cats into the United Kingdom, has been lifted, subject to certain conditions set out in the "pets travel programme". NB: for puppies less than 3 months old, or if you have more than three animals, dispensation is essential.

About equipment

For the date of takeover of the farm, you must have specified the list of equipment which must meet standardsand ideally have been estimated by an expert (for example by an agricultural machinery company or someone from the local CUMA).

About stocks

For the date of takeover of the farm, you must have specified:

Purchases of hay, straw or other (cereals)

Any advances made on crops

Specify at what date the various invoices are closed for the sellers > see with the sellers and farm accountant.
